    Hi all

I've been looking around at loads of laptops and can't decide what to get.

I've seen the following that I like

    http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/product.do?sku=407038

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/136220

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-Aspire-5315-Hard-drive-Accelerator/dp/B000VPJDPM
(But would upgrade to 2gb ram)

I know dual core is better but is it much better, will I notice the difference? Am I better buying a celeron 'santa rosa' 1.7/1.8ghz with 2gb ram or a dual core with 1gb ram. I can't afford anymore than £350.

I will be using it for general use and some oldish games.

    Thanks

What he said! Whilst Dell are offering free delivery, the Vostros are damn good indeed and the one laptop model I keep seeing time and time again on "best value" threads.

I've just got an Inspiron 1720 from Dell and it's really good, very happy with it. Vostro is their small business laptop but there's nothing to stop you buying it for home use.

Be warned that the integrated graphics on laptops aren't great for games, however...

We just got one of those laptops as in that hotukdeals link. Ordered friday, arrived tuesday morning.

Build quality excellent, battery life excellent (easily 6hrs+ whilst working + Wifi), screen's a little fussy on vertical angles but other than that cant really fault it. Seriously brilliant value for money, and a great laptop on the whole.

If there's anything you wanna know on it specifically drop me a PM.

    Hi Guys

    Thanks for your input.

I have taken a look at the vostro, it looks a bargain but i'm not keen on how dated it looks and it apparently weighs a ton. The battery sticks out of the back also which I find a little odd.

Still it is the best deal i've seen.

It is a little heavy, but not too bad compared to my inspiron 640m (14" screen). As for the extra capacity battery, never been a problem for me lugging it around or even on show.
