best introduction to the castlevania series (ds & gba)

always been a fan of the metroid games since the snes but never really been able to get into castlevania, which do you guys recommend? preferably one of the ds titles; dawn of sorrow or portrait of ruin

I dont like the castlevania games myself (at least not the ones Ive played not played any on DS or GBA) but Play asia are doing the Jap GBA version for 7.23, weekly special, got to be worth a punt at that sort of money

Not played any DS titles but Circle of the Moon on GBA was brill!
