There's LOADS of support for the Denon 500 on this forum. I bought one (without hearing it in action  ) based on the huge amount of positive feedback the 500 gets here. I have not been disappointed at all

For the money, I don't think there's much else out there that comes close.

Or 550 if you can get one for nearer 550 quid. But value over the 500 is limited to better speaker connections, 2 units and active sub so ready for 6.1 without need for an other amp.

How do you think the Philips LX9000R compares with the Denon etc as it has a recordable dvd and is multiregion etc

Denon can be Multi-Region too for an extra £20 or so, I guess if recordable DVD is very important to you then fair enough but you may be forsaking PQ/sound for additional functionality.

A home entertainment magazine I browsed Sunday had a top five all-in-one systems listing, the Denon came top against systems that, in some cases, cost twice as much!
