I just bought the Yamaha RX-V657RDS, having all the goodies you specified. It sounds really great, also very good for music listening. I demoed it against my other option, the new Pioneer 915 and it won me over due to its more "clean" sound, better suited for general listening.

I decided to buy it from Germany, since the price including shipping was euro 470 (approximately GBP 330). it arrived after 25 days, everything in perfect condition. I chose to order from www.technikdirekt.de since they accept credit cards, really satidfied from their service.

I saw this for £300 - the denon 2105 - Dolby Digital, DTS, DTS Discrete 6.1/Matrix 6.1, DTS Neo:6, Dolby Pro Logic IIx, Dolby Digital EX, DTS 96/24

will this only give 6.1 ??? what do I need for 7.1 ??? I beleived Dolby Pro Logic IIx gave 7.1 sound ???

    I'm confused....sorry folks :O(

gnikolaidis: I am keen to know, if you ordered from Germany... what happens if the unit develops a fault,,,??? I too would be keen to order from europe, if it meant getting a better deal, but am worried about warranty...

Im also looking at the Denon 2105.. seems really good value for around £300-£350, especially when the new model 2106 are around £450, and the 1906 will be about £300 too.... Its giving me a right headache deciding, especially when the 2105 are disappearing...

£300 for a 7.1 amp will really dilute the soup! ... if you're happy with your current 5.1 setup, then wait and spend more later!

But if you really must upgrade the denon will give you the 7.1 sound you want. Just to clear things up: DTS-ES & DD-EX are 6.1, which means once you attach 2 surrourd rears, the output will be the same for both. Dolby Pro Logic IIx is for "emulating" 7.1 from stereo or 5.1 material!

I agree at that price you will be taking a backwards step rather than upgrading, the amps in the 930 take some beating.I upgraded from a 930 to a 1080 ,the 1080 as more features but is no where near as powerful.
As for autosetup you could just buy a spl meter and do the setup yourself.

Hi, how about the new Pioneer 1015? I've just bought one from Empire Direct for £365. It has 7.1 and all the modes I need along with an auto speaker setup with 5 band graphic equaliser for each channel...

Sounds pretty good to my ears as well.....Just a suggestion.
