I am about to create a poll for the best ever game. I have an idea of which games to include as options but if anyone has specifics they want included, you have until the end of tomorrow (13/3) to suggest them.

    Cheers.

Mario 64, Zelda OoT, Goldeneye, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid, Super Mario World, Half Life, Street Fighter 2,

Please restrict it to groundbreaking games rather than the usual fanboy stuff. and exclude everything in the last year.

Got to be mario 64 for me - even going through the forth time to get all 120 stars it was still immense fun.

On what are you basing your Poll:confused:

Gameplay, Graphics, Lastability or the whole package?

The whole package. Big Jim gives some excellent examples of the games going on the list.

The original Tomb Raider, unsoured by the endless saturation of sequels it spawned.

My vote would have to go to Elite.

This was a game that didn't just break the mould, it pounded it into itty bitty pieces.

Got to be GTA3 and Gran Turismo 3 on PS2.

Sensible Soccer on the Amiga was also very good.

    Manic Miner on Speccy.

Won't argue about Elite, very good game.

There was a similar thread not so long since called Your Top 5 Games here is what mine was.

1 THIEF GOLD:First person sneak-em-up. I didn't play this game I lived it. Please please try this game highly under rated game. PS if you turn the lights out to play this game late at night, you just might die of fright. In fact one of the quest (The Haunted Cathedral) was described in PC Gamer as the most scariest of all time. Now on budget for £5, Zone also likes it.
2 ELITE: On the BBC model B, even bought a disk drive just to play it, and still have the badge from the makers to say I completed the quest(I have played on an Amiga and PC but the BBC wire-frame one, was the best).
3 CIV2: Extremely addictive as you just have to keep having that next civ advancement before you turn off.
4 DIABLO2+EXPANSION SET: Have played it nearly every day since it came out,(hate the patches that alter the stats of your character's)
5 DAGGERFALL: I become the master in the majority of guilds and owned my own house and ship. Also became a werewolf. Loved casting levitation, and riding my horse across the city. Hated the bugs.

    As to arcade games
PHOENIX : My favourite Space Invader type game.
    RASTAN SAGA
    Mr DO
    STAR WARS
BERERK? The one with robots in a maze.

    Quite right Mr.D

The face I use as an avatar appears as a subliminal shot when Father Damien Karas dreams about his mother after learning of her death. It is supposed to be the face of the demon "Pazzazu" who is possessing Reagen. It also makes an appearence in the final reel when the final exorcisim is being performed. William Freidkin decided to insert this leering ghastly face to make the dream sequence more frightening.

I my case it worked!, as it has stuck in my mind since I first saw the film when it was a "video nasty" as a kid in the 80's.
