Best freeview box for reception

    I have just bought a Masterplug Gold High Gain TV Aerial for my alba freeview box .Pictures are great except skynews and sky sport news. I Know i am in a bad reception area (cf33 4ln). is there a freeview box which will help with reception.

    The Setpals and the Echostar 101+ are generally considered to be good in weak signal areas.

    Another vote for the Echostar 101 Plus here (£39.99 from Woolworths).

    I tested it back to back with the more expensive Panasonic TU-CT30. On some channels the Panny wouldn't even display a picture 'cos of weak signals - yet the Echostar pulled them in with no problem.

    PQ wise there was absolutely nothing to choose between the two. But the Echostar* has a slight edge on sound. The Echostar's EPG is, IMO, much better than the Panny's.

    No prizes for guessing which one was returned!

    * But you need to adjust the so-called "volume" setting in the Menu to max., otherwise it sounds a bit reedy (or at least it did on my setup).
