As the title says, budget is around £300, but could be pushed a bit more. What would you recommend?
Me, I would go for this http://www.theatlanticshop.co.uk/CatalogManagement/ProductDetails.aspx?productCode=44931395(Base)
i'd recommend a Denon 1930
I have a denon 1930 as well and think its great, ive not compared it to anything other than my old tosh 125 which is a much cheaper player.
the image quality is great.

Toshiba HD-E1 HD DVD
In home entertainment/DVD Players £322.12
I thought HD DVD players were a £1000 plus, does anyone know how the quality on this player would be?
Someone has got one and is happy http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=442652
Bear in mind here that the audio is likely to be the Pioneer underspeaker or 2.1 - the room won't support anything else. So the main thing to be considering is picture/output. Thanks
Andy you keep quoting this company as a seller of the Toshiba HD-E1 but do they have stock and will they honour any orders at that price? Can you confirm this for the benefit of all?
I think the company seems sound enough but no stock at present.
1 more vote for the Denon DVD-1930 (though only have an ancient Tosh to compare it to)
Do you think its worth waiting until after xmas for prices to drop?
I would, it's only a few days and it looks like some etailers are starting their sales tomorrow!!
Does the 1930 really upscale to 1080 then on the 507 ?
The Oppo 981 looks interesting - £189.00 including VAT and UK mainland delivery with 1080p upscaling.
