Well, it's finally happended. After 3 and half years my Phillips first gen player was destroyed by my 2 and half year old son.

    I have a budget [IMG] of £250.

    I need:

    Multi Region (mainly R1)
    RCE compatible
DD/DTS output to my Yamaha RX795.

Everything else I am not fussed about.

Any suggestions and where to purchase it from please?

Are the modified Toshiba SD100E or Pioneer 535 RCE compatible and any good?

If you don't want the very latest machine, wait a few weeks and pick up a Toshiba SD200E, I can heartily recommend it for excellent picture quality.
You should get one for that price when the replacement model hits the shelves.

I recently bought the Pioneer 535 multi-region. I've absolutely no complaints. The picture is superb and the player easy to use with all the connections I need. I was pleased to see that it came tops against the Toshiba SD100 (amongst other players) in this months What HI-FI. I got it for a bargain price of £169 from Richer Sounds, but to be honest I think I caught someone there on a good day 'cos none of my mates could get that same price. It's well discounted elsewhere though.

A bit off-topic, but I found that WHF is not that reliable when judging AV equipment - not to say they talked a lot of rubbish last year.
I stopped buying the mag after the December issue and now stick to HCC only. :p

    Changed my mind.

My bro is coming back from Hong Kong in late May and I am gonna ask him to get me a Pioneer 737 instead :)

Thing is he can get it for the equivalent of £350 out there so why not!?
