    Hi

Having just bought my first DVD, AV amplifier and surround sound system, I was wondering what you experienced folk out there consider to be the best DVD to test out my system's capabilities and aid with sattelite speaker location?

I've already tested out Star Wars Episode I which sounds great, especially scenes like the Pod Race, but what else do you rate as worth buying or hiring?

Thanks in advance for your valued opinion and help. :)

    Cheers,
    PeterL

If you can play Region 1 discs then get hold of a copy of Saving Private Ryan DTS.

This is THE disc to test and show off your system.

SuperSpeedway DTS. Heard it first at Zebra in London, I bought it, and the race scenes in DTS are awesome.

The Haunting & Saving Private Ryan (both in DTS)

Also worth checking out Atlantis (DTS) & Vertical Limit (Superbit).

Thanks for all your replies. An interesting and varied response with no duplicates bar Saving Private Ryan with 2 votes.

I'll try begging and borrowing a few of these from friends and check them out.

    Best regards,
    PeterL

I watched the Last castle the other night and was surprised by how good a workout it gave to my system. Much better than a lot of other films seen recently. Helicopter explosions nearly curdled the milk in my kitchen two rooms away.

    Ditti Dittohead: SPR DTS

    Also
Alien. Great contrast between silence and heavy heavy noise. Some nice ambient noise too. Some of these old films remixed to 5.1 sound forced and gimmicky, but this one's great.

The Eagles - Hell Freezes Over. Not a film, but great sound demo. Roger Waters - In the Flesh isn't far behind.
