I have a Sony miniDV that plays back pretty good quality visuals when plugged straight into the TV, but when I connect with firewire to my PC, and use Ulead Video Studio 8 to capture and burn a DVD, the quality suffers pretty bad. The DVD movie has artifacts, especially along edges and just is not nearly as good as the raw playback from the camcorder.

    Any suggestions?

What EXACTLY are your capture setting, your project settings, your mpeg conversion settings and your burn parameters.

An incorrect setting in any one of those can ruin your final production, might also help if you give us the full specification of your PC - could be a problem there.
