Depends what you're after from your 'demo' of DTS but if you want a real system shaking, non-stop workout, you'd could do a lot worse than 'The Fast & The Furious'.

BTW, most pointless (other than for the marketing angle) DTS soundtrack? 'American Beauty'.

Surprised no one has mentioned Daylight? or Dances with Wolves?

Dances with wolves is really subtle. At the other end of the spectrum you should try Pitch Black (R1)

Both of the above are cracking entertainment and feature great DTS soundtracks... Fast & Furious is often cited as demo material sound wise as it's use of all 5.1 channels is unrelenting.

Also helps if you don't mind hip/hop and nu-metal too much :D

You're not wrong there... although I think the original poster just wanted some DTS demo material, as in, he's not heard those films like that before maybe.

Oddly, for someone who buys and keeps DVDs, I don't really like watching ANY films more than twice or three times.

Seven SE has a great DTS soundtrack. Just listen to the scene at the beginning where it's raining.

My two favorites are Planet of the apes the pod crash scene, and JP3 the plane crash, Hmm there appears to be a theme there.....

Other films which are much better (IMHO) in DTS ae Gladiator, T2 and Blade 2

Close Encounters of the Third Kind (R2) impressed me a great deal. Subtle when it needed to be, and loud in all the appropriate points. Very good considering the age of the film IMO.

It went VERY loud for me when the "light" first appears over Richard Dreyfuss' pickup truck on the railway crossing..........it's one of those things that you know is coming (e.g. Sloth in Seven) and it still scared the bejesus out of me!!! :D
