    Hi,

I will be moving house in 4 weeks, and I will have freeview installed iin the house. But I want to connect this to my PC. I have got analougue ATI card at the moment but want digital for better picture and sound. As anyone got ideas which would be the best to buy for picture and sound quality.

I have got creative 7.1 sound card, so with a pc freeview box will it have optical to connect to my card.

As always your help is well appreciated,

    Phill

PS i want external because pc is pretty new and dont want to open the box up to waiver guarantee

If you want to use watch freeview on your PC without opening the case, to get the best picture you want to use a USB2 receiver, try Hauppauge. Unless you have an ATI All-in-Wonder, then you have no other way of getting the signal into your PC anyway.

The Pioneer DBR-TF100 has an optical output for dolby 5.1., and received good reviews. Have no idea, however, whether it meets with your PC requirements.

go for the nebula mate... the PCi version is just awesome, streets ahead of any regular freeview box I've seen.

I'd be very suprised if the usb version was any different.

They're a small company too, so the development and support of the product are first class in my experience..

    Good afternoon guys,

Has anyone here got any experience of the Hauppauge WinTV -PVR USB2 as I am thinking of getting one. Looked at the spec but cannot find that it will receive digital Freeview channels. Just says 125 channel cable ready.

What channels will this unit pick up? What is the picture quality like on a 15" TFT monitor?

I like the idea of recording TV programmes and then burning onto DVD.

If you record say a 2 hour film or footy match does the quality reduce the longer the recording time?

Is there a way of feeding the unit from my sky box or is it just an RF lead?

    All help greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    Paul

    Thanks for the reply,s,

I have just read and will look into web pages.
My card is the all in wonder card, and what difference will that make to having an external digital receiver? or will I still need a receiver as well as my card?

As you can see I am not knowledgable on pc equipment.

Cheers for your much needed help!
