Can anyone recommend a good but cheap cooling solution for the 360? Have been looking at various models and most seem to either fail in their task or work but are too noisy. I need one that can function without the sound of it interfering with watching DVDs/gaming.

I noticed Logic 3 have just released a new one:

    This any good?

I bought a combo stand for mine from amazon, it holds the 360 upright and has a slot on one side for a controller, whilst playing the 360 the other day it was really hot as I leant over to disconnect an ethernet cable, so I turned on the cooling stand and within minutes the heat that was protruding from the top of the 360 had to turned to cool air, in my opinion this is a fantastic bit of kit.
The make is madrics and was about 13 quid or something around that price tag, alot of people slate the cooling fans but I rate this one very highly.
Of course its upto you to make up your own mind but I hope this helps :)

Thanks for your input Gav.

How did you find the noise of that cooling solution?

i heard external cooling devices place strain on the power supply, and can lead to it failing

^ true, good way is to leave it as is and have it not tucked away to aid cooling, only downside is the noise becomes more noticeable. if its in a closed cabinant then cut the backside cardboard thingy so air can move freely out.

best is to crack it open and mod it with liquid cooling or transfer insides to another case that can be easliy cooled and sound deadened.

Some of the coolers have their own power supply, avoiding that issue.

How likely would a cooler overload a power supply for the 360 if it did run off it?

Modding it would be ideal but I don't want to spend that much money nor invalidate my warranty.

Surely there are some coolers that are worthwhile?

Thats the one I bought from amazon,it is a little noisy thats probably one of the main things that would p*ss you off, and it is powered by the 360, but ive had no problems what so ever with my 360 yet, and after the other days performance im rather impressed :)
Is a tad expensive though, but all the others on ebay and that are just a stack of fans that make your 360 look like its grown a sist :p

If I have my Xbox on an atacama stand on it's on individual shelf should I be looking at getting something to cool it still? It gets fairly hot after a lot of playing but I don't want to have to put up with incredibly noisy fans...is there something that someone can recomend without invalidating my warranty as I just got it less than a week ago :)

Just to note - Do not get an Intercooler fan!

I got one, and the thing sounds like a 'plane taking off!

Sounds like the one I have - does it have a battery charger, for the wireless controller? If so, take my advice and remove the 360 from it IMMEDIATELY!

When using mine, after a while I got a faint smell of burning from the 360, which also got more and more unstable as the smell increased. Then, I got three red rings on the 360, and it went to meet it's maker (literally and figuratively)

I'm guessing that the fans were connected the wrong way round - and instead of expelling the hot exhaust, were blowing it back into the console. Ouch.

So you had an xbox heater? Hey, maybe there's a market for those on ebay! just ordered an intercooler. I know its going to be loud but i cant face it redlighting again so i'll just have to turn the sound system up even more.
