The time has come to buy a second controller for the Xbox - I've found a friend to play against !

Can anyone suggest the best controllers out at the moment and where I can pick one up online ?

I also want to hook up the Xbox via a scart and have optical out to a 5.1 machine, how can this be achieved if I only have two scarts on the tv and both are required for other machinery? Is there a multi scart option available ? Sorry for the stupid questions!

    1) Get a controller S. Most people agree they are best.

    2) You need the advanced scart lead, which has an optical out on it.

    3) You need a scart splitter. Argos do one for about a tenner. You'll want the one that does RGB scart - I think it's the one that doesn't have a scart lead attached that you want, which means you'll have to buy another scart-to-scart cable aswell, for connecting the splitter to your TV.

Yeah go with one of the offical microsoft pads.
Don't buy a third party pad, they may be cheaper but you won't be happy when analogue sticks break and it needs replacing in a few months.

I'd second the advanced scart lead, big difference from the crappy composite one you get in the box.

Or get one of the Logitech wireless pads. Absolutely superb but about twice the price of a standard (wired) pad.

Cheers guys, I'll go for the controller s then. I took a look at Argos and couldn't see anything there unless I'm being totally stupid ! Yes RGB is a must with the equipment I have - with the splitter do you have to flick a switch or does it route the output from the xbox, dvd automatically ??

Any quality lost in the dvd picture by using a scart splitter ?

The switch box is on page 717 of the Autumn/Winter catalogue.

They call it the "Scart Video Unit"

    Cat no. 534/2361

    £9.75

It is manual switching though, (hey its £9.75)

Thanks Bassline - seems a good price to me. As long as I can view when I want and record off the scar splitter then that's all I need !
