Getting a bit bogged down looking at LCD 17" widescreens.

My mam is getting one anytime now and is also getting a cheap as you like freeview box, and a DVD recorder (from the ranges under £250).

What connections do I need? I know its a bit vague but most I see have a red/green/blue component input, a normal composite red/white/yellow, and a S-video with red and white for the sound. If she used the component for best pic quality from the DVD recorder, where the hell would I input the sound from the DVD?

Starting to wonder if it might be worth her spending a little more on a toshiba LCD with 2 scart sockets?

Sorry for newbie type Q's but I am getting a bit lost.

    Cheers
