Best compromise (Juddering, Black levels, sharpness) on LCD/Plasma

I'm having a nightmare trying to choose my next TV as i can't find anything that ticks all the boxes.

I've looked at all the tvs on display in John Lewis, M&S, Sony centre, currys, comet and am none the wiser.

John lewis were showing walle blu-ray on a selection of their LCDs and I saw nasty judder on all but the Sony KDL-40Z4500U which is out of budget.

However, I then saw a wall of Sony LCDs in M&S showing standard freeview and sky HD (split screen and switching between the 2). The football looked fine on all of them, none of the juddering i saw on the LCDs in John Lewis with blu-ray.

I'll be using the tv for the following:
TV (Freeview/freesat HD)
PS3 gaming
Blu-ray via PS3

Blu-ray performance is most important, reasonable SD performance would be nice

I think what I really want is a Plasma with a sharp image, I can't seem to find one though?

I'm tempted by the Sony but it's a lot more than I wanted to spend and I'm worried about clouding issues with the panel.
