I am getting a new plasma this week. After reading numerous threads the consensus seems to be that they benefit from running in. Well I'm not a particularly patient person, so I was planning to just run it 24X7 for the first week to bed it in, but obviously I want to avoid any burn in.

I was thinking of just putting it on BBC1 and letting it go when I'm asleep or out (Usual disclaimers about burning the house down apply!) Is this a good idea and is the deer old Beeb a good choice? I want a channel that runs 24X7 without any nasty logos.

Also, if it arrives and has any dead pixels am I within my rights to reject it?

    Any advice greatfully received.

the danger of 24x7 is teh screen freezing while you are asleep or out.....I wouldn't do it......100 - 200 hours can be notched up real quick anyway

on the pw7 / pwd7 you have to hold the vol- on the screen down while pressing the status button on the remote 3 times on teh menu you get you select the SD option (if my memory serves me correctly).....you will then see two numbers..the left one is times turned on and the right one is hours used.

My daughter snapped Shrek :( but wouldn't a DVD just sit at the menu and frazzle the screen?

you can set dvd to repeat (or even just to repeat a scene (a-b))......but however remote there is still the chance of it freezing or something

Spooky... My NTL set top box has never frozen in all the time I have had it... Until this morning, I switched on the portable and there it was, stuck!

You guys are either offering good advice, or putting a hex on my set top box :D

Guess I'll just have to watch it all the time when it's running in!
