best CD player/DAB radio for £350?

Standard Member
Hi all,

I know less than nothing about Hifi so need a bit of advice - I want a new Hifi for around £350, I want it for:

* Dab radio
* CD player
* nice if I can plug ipod into it but that's an extra not a required.

What unit/speaker combination do people recommend?

I was thinking of maybe the Denon DM39 plus ?????? (since I know nothing about speakers).

BX2's are extremely good, especially if you like Bass and a great solid sound.
I prefer the Acoustic Energy over the Q Acoustics, but that is personal.
It is down to your personal tastes really.
Speaker cable, do not go too mad £2 a metre should be enough.
You will also want 8 banana plugs or 4 pairs to be exact.
The Marantz also allows you to add a powered sub if needed.

I picked up the Acoustic energy and the unit - yesterday, very very pleased - works just fine with the apple gear in the house, already got my favourite podcasts all saved and set up - a lovely unit...

I think it goes without saving that it sounds night and day compared to the £70 all in one cheap Hifi it replaces...

now.. em.. what's a decent but not too pricy sub-woofer to pair with it?

Is this how you guys get people? They come in for one thing and keep adding? :)
