Can anyone suggest the best camera (in their opinion) for under £400 which delivers superb picture quality, is easy to use, is a nice size, has all the best features you need, and is well made with everything in the box.

I like SONY products but really don't know a great deal about digital cameras at present.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated
    Thanks

    Nick

Any of the above will fit the job. The G5 is the best featured camera i'd say. It can be used by a novice, but has all the fuction for when you become more avdvanced. The sony (which you're a fan of) Looks like a good buy to. I have the Ixus 400. I love the camera, takes great pics, has a decent movie mode, and is very nice on the eye and it's easy to use on the go.

I recently bought the Canon G5 and it's an excellent camera, I would recommend it 100%, if you need any example photographs, let me know.

G5 is a bit bulky though - Try the Digital Ixus 400 also from Canon. Can now be got for less than £300, is neat and compact has a 3x zoom, and a 4Mp sensor. Produces excellent, sharply focussed and richly coloured shots. I use it alongside a Canon 10D for grab shots.

I have the 400 myself, i love the camera. But i'm starting to feel a need more maunual features. My friend is selling His nikon D100, a huge step up for me in size and capability. I'm in two minds on if i should buy it because of it's size, but i should not let that stop me really

I think the G5 will give you the scope to advance.
