I'm looking to buy a digital camera for my parents, and have a budget of approx £200

    Any suggestions?

My dad is getting into ICT now he's retired, and will want to print off and display his pics, so a pretty good pixel rate would be useful, as would optical zoom

    Regards

I've had an Olympus C-765UZ now for just over a week and I'm really happy with it. It has all the point and shoot options on it but will also allow you to changa alot of the settings manually as your folks get more experienced, it is a 4megapixel camera (more than enough for good quality prints) but the real bonus of this camera IMO is the 10x optical zoom, it makes the camera a bit bigger than the latest compact digital cameras but it's worth it for the zoom feature...

It can be had for £205 here:- http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos...ef=amb_left-2_146681_6/&l=317311&c=146681&s=1

And here's a rather long but very informative thread about it from here on the forums:- http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1435

    Regards,
    Iain.

I do not think that second link is working see if this one works http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=143574

I was the starter of that thread and have just got my first set of photos printed, and everyone I have shown them to have commented how stunning they are.

You won't go far wrong with the Canon A85. Can be bought on the net for around £185 if you shop around. I had a Canon A60 for a long while. Picture quality superb.Unfortunately it developed the dreaded E11 error(zoom fails to go in and out). After extensive research I still opted for the A85 as the lens quality is second to none IMHO. It is 4 megapixel and I believe cannot be beaten in this price bracket.
