Best Buy for me

Sorry for this folks I know it's been covered before, but I need help on my new TV choice.
Check out my signature for the current kit I have. The Sharp will find it's may into the bedroom and I need a HD ready screen to replace it.
Ok something not in my signature is a Denon 2900 with SDI mod and the HD+ is about to be upgraded with the SDI mod to match.

I want to take full advantage of the HD+ scaler and SkyHD box with my new screen so I have been interested in the Sony X series (for it's 1080 res), but the reports of poor quality and still some limited features are putting me off.
With nothing else in the LCD market being even mentioned in the same breath as Plasma screens then I would like to know what alternatives I have to the Sony in the Plasma market.
Now I know Pioneer have a 1080 res plasma, but this is way out of my budget and isn't it still the only 1080 plasma available?

I have been doing some looking on the plasma forum and some of the models I would have put onto my short list now seem to be having problems (Panny PX60, PHD9 etc). This has left me wondering what left that will give me a great picture (for sports,action,PS3 and sci-fi) will not break the bank and will prove reliable without any snakes, Screenburn or over noisy fans.

I am now lost on what to get, the Sony is due for a price drop soon putting it very close to my £1500 budget although I would like to spend less and get the best value set I can that will still give a great picture, 2 HDMI sockets would be good, and 40" or bigger in size. Not worried about sound or freeview.

I would appreciate any help on this subject :D
Thanks
P.S. bought a Hitachi 9700 earllier in the year and sent it back for the poor blacks :thumbsdow

There is nothing under £1500 that is 1920x1080 res. As for plasmas to look at, I would go for a panel as you are all set-up with speakers, amp etc. So the Panasonic PHD9, not sure how much that costs.

Yes in many ways I agree and I came close to buying a PHD8 in the summer only to be put off by the launch of the PHD9 :suicide: , but now looking at the threads on the PHD9 it seems to have some issuses and being a premium set (at least to me) it should be issuse free. Is tyhe DVI board as good as the HDMI board for quality as I would want 2 digital input and DVI is cheaper?
To be honest I am considering this purchase as a stop gap as in a years time I expect both plasma and LCD to be much better buys than they are now, but I can't wait any longer to start enjoying my HD sources. As a result I would rather pay closer to a £1000, but picture quality and enjoyment must still be top class even at this level can it be done? Is there something coming out soon worth looking at.
Cheers

Just how much better is the PHD9 over the PX60 if fed with native resolution through HDMI?
Does the PHD9 come with the same 5 year warranty as can be had with the PX60?
Power buy still best place to get PHD9 I guess?
Best place to get PX60 at the moment?

What do you think
Cheers

I would say PHD9 would be better, never seen them side by side. It does not come with the free 5 year warranty. I would go for the panel if you are sorted with an amp etc. and the rest of your family can use it.

As for PX60, it is darn cheap now. You could get one for under £900.
