Can anyone help to suggest a decent budget DVD player that is 100% compatible with DVD-R's and VCD's?
I would prefer something under £80.

Posters like this really get on my goat.

I wonder if you'll be buying original DVD's or just copying DVD's?

Strange why you don't ask "will it play original DVD's?"

I have over 250 original DVD's. I'm asking about DVD-R and VCD compatability because I have lots of holiday camcorder footage that's been recorded on to DVD-R and would like to play them. As for VCD, well I have just started using Photo2VCD and want to make sure the VCD's I create will work.

Just go an extra £10 and buy a tosh 330 (while its very compatible, almost nothing is 100% compatible-too many variants).

Why should it bother you

A lot of my mates don't bother using VHS anymore and record a lot of digital Sat programs on dvd+r or VCD.

Recordable dvd is the medium of the future so having a cheap compatable dvd player (say in the bedroom) is a must.

My brother has a Philips DVDR880, and is looking for a cheap DVD player to use in another room, obviously he will want to playback DVD+R's recorded on the Philips.

    What is wrong with that?

Fair enough. It just sounded like the usual 16 year old buying a cheap DVD player and only buying pikey DVD's and VCD's.

    Hi Metaphysical
This maybe a bit "cheap" for you but WH Smiths are selling a Cyberhome player at £50. My brother brought one home to-night and it's tiny! . Plays MP3's,VCD and my DVD -R's and they give him a printout showing how to make it multi-region..it took 30 seconds. You need a scart to get it to work which they'll sell you for a fiver if needed. Played a couple of region 1 RCE disks as well with no probs .....all in all a bit of a bargain.

It can still be a DVD player even if it does not play RCE discs !
Not all players play imported originals do they?

    Regards, Mylo
