I've had this boxset for about 2 years i think and still i have yet to see a boxset like it.
Alien Quadrilogy is simply quite stunning in every sense, even the packaging is excellent, since adopted by many (nightmare on elm street 1-6)!
watched Alien and Aliens last night with the lads back to back and was still blown away by the visuals and sound. the first Alien still manages to unerve the viewer :smashin: After the lads went I spent the next few hours going through the bonus material   outstanding i could now go on mastermind with chosen topic and answer everything about the film!! Next week i'll do the same with the last two in the franchise   maybe not quite as rewarding!!
Anyway people what are your thoughts on this mighty boxset, best out there???? I do have the numbered edition aswell and it does seem that they no longer retail these

The Alien head does look really impressive sat on a shelf next to my Sonny head :D

What's the Nightmare set like? I've only seen the standard Amaray/Slipcase set.

the nightmare set is quite nice...no raised 3d graphics like alien but same idea with the disks each having their own 'page'.

No never, it took me loads of hard earned work to gain the OK for a decent AV set up!!! Then i managed to use the spare room to have my collections, use old oak bookcase for DVD's Now i want some collections like posters, Alien Head....etc movie stuff so i could have one room in the house which was dedicated to cinema...but it could be a long war :thumbsdow :thumbsdow

i'd probably go for the Alien Quadrilogy, followed by the Region 1 Nightmare on elm street collection. The Region 1 has 8 snapper cases in an embossed box, with each case making up one eighth of a picture of freddy. It also comes with a couple of pairs of 3d glasses for the finale of the 6th movie.

The Without A Trace S1 has nice packaging, nice clear cover with a design over it really looks nice, plus the Buffy sets are nice, just a pain in the arse to open properly.

Naturally a mention to LOTR:EE which can be had in a rather nice wooden box I believe.

Yesterday I received Hellboy DC (R1) and today received Black Hawk Down Superbit Deluxe both of which are a cut above most in terms of packaging and content. :)

The Buffy 7 season, 39 disk boxset is a whopper! and its very, very collectable :D

I'd also like to offer up the Matrix Collection. While the last two movies are much re-rided (?) the boxset itself is a giant, there is much to watch and most of it watchable.

I love the "Schindler's List" R1 perspex box. I was one of the lucky few that got an unbroken box (on my second attempt).

The R1 "E.T." collector's set is a rather lush package. The beautifuly lavish 250 page hardback book is worth the price on its own.

"The Monkees" R1 box set in the style of a miniature record player, complete with CDs that rise up like stacked records when the lid is opened, is a cool package too.

I haven't got anything as fancy as you guys. My nicest boxset is probably the Scarface Deluxe set.

Still believe this is the best boxset ever, even though i watched 3 last night and remembered how much it lacked the expertly directed first two :thumbsdow however the extras are still extensive leaving nothing out :smashin: if you don't own this boxset go out now and buy it :lesson:

There is a problem with the Alien Quadrilogy R2 boxset (sold in 2005)
After reading a post in another forum saying disk 3 may be the older Aliens Directors cut, and not the theatrical/extended dual version. I checked my disk 3 and, yes it's the old directors cut (same as the alien legacy disk) Completely different menus to the other 8 disks, but has the correct artwork. BUM!

    My Faves are:

James Bond Tin (ALL 20 movies)
    Hellraiser Cube
    Alien Quad
    Star Wars original trilogy
Hulk (3 disk plastic fist box with comic edition)
    Hellboy R1 DC (3 disk)
    Shrek 2 with embossed head
    Spiderman 2 box set
    Pearl Harbour (3 disc)
Snow White (2 disk with 200page book and nice box)
LOTR (EE) trilogy (don't own the wooden box edition though)
Indiana Jones Trilogy (Why can't everyone make an outer sleeve like this one, purely lovely!)
Thunderbirds movie (box with toys :D - curently £5.99 in woolies sale)
Planet of the apes (6 disk - currently £19.99 in woolies sale)
Tintin (Nice stiff box & 10 mini amarays so does not take up too much shelf space :smashin: )
Batman Quad box (ok the movie dvds are BASIC but the box looks neat on my shelf with it's big bat sign :smashin: )

This is not a list of my fave movies just the best packaged/presented/pile of extras/etc.
