    What are your favs.

The best one I can think of is Chapter 12 of the R1 version of The Rock. The shower scene, brilliant. Great demo scene to show off your system and also dramtically filmed. Actually most of The Rock.

84Mins to 93mins ( about ) into BRINGING OUT THE DEAD. Not the best film but the soundtrack here really shines and its a lot better than Casualty. Quite funny in a sick way.

    Hey DuncanWardle

The Rock is my fav action film. hAS THE best LINE.I only own it on LD. Best bit has to be the FACE OFF scenes between Ed Harris and CandyMan Tony Todd.
    When Tony shouts;-

    "I WHAT MY F***ING MONEY!"

    And also "STAND DOWN CAPTAIN".

Sean Con. stole the show, sorry Nicholas

The "Here's my invitaion" scene from True Lies R1 (CH3 I think).

The opening battle scene in Private Ryan R1 (CH2 I think)

The awesome shootout at the bank robbery scen in Heat R2 has to be one of the best ever made.

Most of The Matrix, Saving Private Ryan and, I concur, the shootout in Heat, pretty 'bally' awesome!!!!!!!!!1
But also, some classic moments not to be forgotten, take your pick :-

The destruction of the rebels and the forest in Predator.
The bit with the vamps coming out of the ground in Vampires.
The face off between Drexel and Slater in True Romance, kicking soundtrack.
Aliens because I love plenty of gung ho slaughter.
The bit when the golf ball whizzes around the room in Lock, Stock..... (pretty good up loud).
And finally, any chilling music when little boys talk to dead people...........
    Great.

As everyone else mentioned, The Matrix and Saving Private Ryan. Also -

1.Ed Norton's imaginary mid-air collision in Fight Club. Comes out of nowhere and my system just about explodes if it is cranked !! Short, but sweet.
2.The opening 'nightclub' scene in Blade.
3.Contact - the build up to, and the scene where Jodie's character goes through the wormhole.
4.The parting of the Red? sea in The Prince of Egypt.

    cheers

    gavin.

I've just watched the DVD of ID4 and it sounds much better than the DTS LD. Must be a first.

Also any idea if the DTS True Lies is gonna get a DVD release as my LD got a little damaged [IMG]

Must be! Im pondering getting the DVD- is the picture as bad as some have suggested (I doubt it but I dont want to replace a LD that cost me £40 if it has probems).

No idea about a DTS True Lies- I suppose www.thedigitalbits.com would be first to break news on that- I would say likely as most new amps have it built in, its just whether the average joe would support the format.

I think Digital Bits said that True Lies would NOT be among the first wave of FOX dts titles. X-Files (the movie) and Die Hard were mentioned along with a couple more.

The opening scene in 'Hard Boiled' - still the best choreographed piece of violence ever.

The opening scene in Blade - top use of music to accompany the action.

Starship Troopers - the ambush on the outpost (can't remember the name of the scene).

    Not on DVD:

The Godfather, where Sonny Corleone (James Caan) is murdered - a scene that stays in the memory long after.

Any of the Star Wars Trilogy - the opening scene where the Imperial cruiser passes over the camera... surely a key cinema moment for anyone between the age of 25 and 50!

Thanks Pete- great I now have to re-buy all the Die Hard films!

James- As an owner of the LD Star Wars SE, I can assure you that yes that scene is absolutely wonderful- although they dont really use a slooow flyover effect (which is a shame)- which is why I chose the Death Star Battle. You are in for a treat when it comes out [IMG]

the picture on the DVD is not bad at all. In someplaces it goes a little LD like but it is very good quality in every way.

I know how u feel about re-buying, when T2 comes out at end of august it will be the 2nd time i have it on DVD 3rd on LD and 3rd or 4th on video.

Anyway for about £18 ID4 is worth it for the extended cut and also the 2nd disc is very interesting. The mock documentry thing is quite funny.

I cant b arsed to re-buy the Die hards in DTS unless they do have some kind of extended cut of the, although the anex skywalk shoot out scene is a very good section and nice and violent.

I know what you mean, I'd love to re-buy half my LD collection on DVD. One step at a time though. And I promised my wife I'd only buy new releases on DVD, but with T2 coming, how could I not? Braveheart looks good too. And so does Strship Toopers, Leon, Predator...........................

A couple that spring to mind
    1) The scene in "Aliens" when the Marines and Ripley had sealed themselves in a lab and were watching the Alens on the sensor converge on their position... - One of those great suspense moments when I didn't cover my eyes [IMG]

    2) The huge battle scene in "Platoon" at the end when the VC overan the camp. - Gotta get that out on DVD

    Cheers

Rob T - Platoon is out on R1 very soon. Got it on order as I love the film and am sure that some parts were edited for my own good, ie, the dialogue about Barnes and his history of not being 'killable' by the gook.
Also, let's all get Duncan a flaming icon, I've had one and it's cool.

Not the most obvious but here goes:

    Most of Fight Club.

The tomb sequences in The Mummy (there's something about the bass when they throw those torches around.

My demo sequence is the helicopter scene from The Matrix.

    General,
Yup I just seen the preorder in Play247 - no mention of any extras, DTS, etc. though.

    Other gripping scene:
The Abyss: When Ed Harris had to watch ME Mastrantonio drown in the minisub - jeeze...

    Cheers

Im glad some1 mentioned Hard Taget. As a no brainer action movie this is great.

I think my fav is either the bit when he gets hold of the motorbike after his cop friend is killed or the end bit when they are back to back with the wall between them.
    Classic Woo

Im trying to remeber other things that I like.

Bad Boys is just such a great film with the scene were will smith runs after the bad blokes with his shirt flying and the wheelchair guys playing basket ball, being one of the most memorable.

Did I mention The Rock, oh how I love this film.

Eraser and the rail gun or the sky dive from the plane.

Goldeneye and the car chase at beginning.

End of Armageddon ( ahhhhhhh )

At the moment though, and seeing as how most of you must have PCs, i have been spending majority of my time playing a game called Deus Ex. I urge you to rush to the shop now and buy it. It is the most cleverest and involving thing I have ever seen. Pure class.

Oh and whats the flaming thing ?

    Take your pick.

    and

The entire Bladerunner movie.... especially Rutger Hauer's wolf howl as he 'hunts' Decker

One scene That I have always loved is from John Carpenter's The Thing.

It's the "hands in the chest" scene..great bit of shock horror.

I also liked the 'spider head' sequence too .

As far as other movies are concerned then I agree with a lot of the above.

The opening night club sequence in Blade. The Car Chase in The Rock. The whole of the sequence in Armageddon from the shuttle take off to the 'landing' on the asteroid.

The intro to Bad Boys still makes me chuckle.

The dogfights in ID4 are good too.

    All the usuals really!!
