Well I am doing all my own terminations (solder banana plugs) and building my faceplates from blanks and CPC 4mm gold sockets but the pics I have seen of the CAT 5 are kinda off putting. Are people using a single run of Cat 5 per speaker terminal ie one cable for + and one for - or are they running both down a single cable because I'll be looking at 100m of CAT 5 for the whole job if its one per terminal!

various combinations really. I use three runs of cat5 per speaker, one for high frequency (+ an -) and two for bass (+ and -) as my speakers are biwired. each cat5 cable contains 4 twisted pairs so 8 separate conductors. As mine are on show I have braided and covered them but you don't have to, just run them wherever you want and terminate according to the "flavour" you want.

100m of cat5e from maplin is £35 by the way.
