Best AV amp for £1000, I'm not interested in any of the 4K pass through or upscaling or for any of the other multiple analogue connections, wireless streaming etc I don't need that stuff already have xbmc, squeezebox and NAS music and video alreay accesible from my devices.

What I want is the best sound quality for a straight 5:1 (maybe 7:1 in the future), only thing it needs to support is 3d pass thru. Have a Denon AVR2310 currently with B and W M1's and PV1.

I see sevenoaks have a good price on last years pioneer range lx56, 76 and 86 all at good discounts - as I mentioned above though I don't need/want half the features on them just the best sounding amp.

Will the lx76 and lx86 be overkill for my M1 setup?

I was thinking of maybe adding 2 B & W ceiling speakers to go 7:1, what are folks thoughts worth it or 5:1 good enough its a 5m x 4m room. Any recommendations for ceiling speakers to match the m-1s?

    Thanks

Thanks must admit I hadn't heard of them before other than their hifi gear but a bit of research does seem to suggest they are rather good - though ugly!

Anyone got any other thoughts MXR300 vs LX76 is there any contest around the £1K mark.

Has anyone has issues using the MXR300 with XBMC or via a PC attached i.e. the PC seeing the device as a Video card etc.

    Thanks

I'd add a plus 1 for the Anthem

Alternatively we have the Yamaha RX-A2020 in titanium available for £999 in our AVforums offer thread.

We also have a Anthem MRX500 offer as well

I've got a pioneer lx85 which is great but like you, I only run a 5.1 system. My speakers aren't bi-wire able so I don't use the majority of my outputs. I've heard good things about the anthem and I'd have a good look at that as its room correction is supposed to be among the best. I didn't get an anthem because my speakers are 4 ohm and it mentions in their literature that it isn't suitable for 4 ohm speakers although it would probably have been fine.

Oh, where does it say that about not running 4 ohm speakers? My manual was in French!

I never checked before i got my KK's if it could or not. Thankfully at the volumes i normally run at it seems fine but occasionally i can detect a slight hardness to the sound when im giving it a quick blast just for the fun of it.

To the OP, Anthems are superb sounding receivers.

I recall reading it somewhere when I was looking at anthem amps. I use dynaudio speakers that are 4 ohm and it was a consideration when I bought my last amp. Wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong though 😞
