I am currently looking around for a all in one system which includes speakers (wireless if possible), AV reciever/amp, progressive scan dvd player and maybe freeview box if possible (can buy freeview box on its own if i have to) with component inputs so i can play xbox through component input progressive scan but i have a smallish front room so i dont need powerful speakers.

I've already seen a plasma that i like the look of and now I just need to choose a home cinema package (really confused as to which is best for my budget)

I've got around £800-£900 to spend

    thanx in advance :smashin:

yep, it looks really cool packed with nice features... the only thing that puts me off a little is that its a dvd slot instead of cd tray by the looks of it, I've heard that they tend to break easily compared to cd trays?
Also, i cant find any info on what inputs/outputs its got... do they think it will have component input and output?

    Hi Nippy
Excuse my ignorance but does the xbox have component out or did you need a receiver with up conversion if the later you would be hard pushed with your budget to get a full system for £1000,If the xbox does have component out you will be able to connect this to most plasma hardware anyway.
    Cheers Gonzo. :)
I shouldnt worry too much about the dvd tray marantz build quality is usually very good, only thing that would worry me is young rugrats using it as a money box. :D

to have component out from an xbox i THINK u need to have the box modded. this is definitly the case if u want a PAL Xbox to output High Definition Signals (seriosuly Reccomend Doing if hooking up to a plasma or Projector)

Thats the only trouble, there are too many nice looking aio's about and hardly any info/reviews about them :suicide:

so far i like the look of these two...

    marantz hollywood http://avland.co.uk/marantz/hiab/hollywood-in-a-box.htm

Denon 770SD home cinema system http://www.unbeatable.co.uk/CatalogueItem_19591.html

both look very nice but at the moment the denon system looks more appealing to me as its got 2 component inputs so i could connect panny6 plasma upto it and run my modded xbox through component input on denon AV reciever.. saves me a bit of money because i wouldnt need to buy a component video card for TV, I'd connect AV reciever through vga port.... but...but... i cant decide

are denon and marantz good makes or am i better off sticking to well known manufacturers such as sony, panasonic and samsung?

ye that only has one component output ! IIRC the denon has 2 component inputs

edit:yes the amp does have two component inputs and what the denon has over "hollywood" and Jamo is 6.1 both DTS ES and DD EX which more and more DVD's are Adopting these Days :smashin: when u go 6.1 you never want to go back IMO

Yep that pretty much does it for me, I'm going to buy the denon 770 aio as it's got 2 component inputs and is 6.1 if u buy extra centre speaker :smashin:

only think I'm not keen on is speaker placement, I have 6.1 sound for pc and i have wires running everywhere, I usually trip up over them once a week :thumbsdow

if i were you as well id go to an online cable store and buy decent Speaker wires. i did this and made a world of difference to me. no point in spoiling a gr8 system with bad interconnects. most of the time the manufactuers supply of cables is some what less than to be desired :lesson: cant u just get extra lengths of cables then tack them to skirting boards, bottom of wall etc ??

not with my surround sound for pc coz the cables are built into system and arent very long so i have to run them straight through middle of room :(

But I will definitely do what you suggested when i get denon aio for living room. :smashin:
