As per the title really. £2k budget and looking for a 65" TV. Won't be used for any serious gaming, just a standard PS4 running through it. Use it for watching TV but also films and 4k HDR content on Netflix where possible

Squeeze the budget a bit and get an LG C8.

Is it worth the extra £500? I didn't think it had a 10 bit panel?

All oled sets are 10 bit.

Any plans for a 4K player?

Maybe in the future but not right now.
It's a toss up between the Q9 and the C8 thrn, but another £800 for the C8....hmm

B8 offers 95% of the performance for much less. Q9 needs high quality sources to be at its best, whereas oled will be better across the piece.

    Ok, so a curve ball.

Both the C8 and Q9 are similarly priced at 65"

But Samsung are currently running a promotion for a free phone which is worth about £800.

    So Q9F for say £2000, C8 for £2800 or the B8 for £2000

Go for the B8 as there's not much difference for the money involved or one of the recommendations on Dodge's guide like the XF90, NU8000 or U7A.

I'm biased but defo the C8. Or if you want to save some money - get a B7 - which I have. The 2017 (7) range all have the same panels and same processors so the only differences are cosmetic, the speakers and stands. I'm connected to an AV amp and TV is on the wall so the B7 is perfect. I spent £2.2k a year ago and have enjoyed every second of using it. You can still find the B7 for around £1,800.

Oh and got the B7 sight un-seen cos if it's good enough for the guys on the podcast then it's good enough for me.

Its somewhat pointless comparing two techs. People are going to prefer the sound of one or the other, regardless of the individual specifications.
    LCD versus OLED

The Q9FN vs OLED debate is going to be something asked on here a thousand times and to put it bluntly you should gauge whether you benefit from the all round gains in picture quality OLEDs bring against how much brighter with HDR the Q9FN can get.

The Q9FN should be considered only if HDR is going to be predominantly what you watch and care about, its not going to benefit all sources the same way as an OLED and watching regular SDR on it won't be that much better than a much cheaper LCD.

As far as I'm aware the LG B7 is in scarce supply nowadays as I've been informed in the past by other people on here everytime I mention it, and the B8 has since been price matched to be the same price as any B7's still being sold which was the case over Black Friday depending on size.

A second hand one is an option for the OP and would be much cheaper than the B8 but I wouldn't buy from eBay as it's most likely a refurb or return with issues.
