    Hi everyone

I want to buy a 50" screen (Preferably panel) this side of Christmas. I am willing to spend 4-5 k absolute max....but very happy to spend less of course !

Can you give me some advice about which one to go for. I've been thinking about the MXE1 or the Fujitsu panel, but am aware that some new models will be coming out in the next month or two.

I will be using an SDI mod Sky plus box, Lumagen processor...and it will be calibrated by Gordon. I will be upgrading to Sky HD of course...and will be using an ARCAM DV 79 DVD also

Thanks in advance for any help. The choice is doing my head in !!!

    PS
Dilsher.....Thanks in advance for the recommendation of the Fujitsu

No probs Mark, and welcome to TRUE HC heaven rather than TV land..

MXE1 is cheaper option but may be just as good... and now the Fuji price is 4.4k!!..and if you're in London I have pretty much the set up you want and ISFed so come over and view???!! You can also compare before and after ISF settings too..Only thing probs waiting for is Panny HD8 - but first reports dont give it a real edge over the Fuji 40.

indeed: as these models will be out:

    Pioneer 506
    Panny HD8

Dont expect the Panny to be much different to the Fuji though and the Pio is a TV not PDP so if you cant wait go for Fuji. Prices may well come down a little more then though Mark for the Fuji.

I'll definitely wait for at least 1-2 months...but at some point you've just got to dive in.

I also watch a lot of sky sports...particularly football....so how will that affect what I go for. Any makes better for motion and sport etc.

Dilsher. What's the Fuji like on footie ?

The Fuji easily eats up even the worst sourced football Mark mate, you will love -as a life long LFC man, of course I watch tonnes of the stuff on SkySport. No motion smear..jaggies on the advertsing boards or pitch white lines etc..pretty fantastic in short.

The Pio is poor on Sky and therefore footie too. And it just aint got the deep blacks of a panny/fuji panel. FACT. Early repoirts on the 506 have it as ahving 2 HDMI sockets - but thats about all I believe that's new - wow..big fookin deal! The Pios have always been pioneering (!!!) in having new HD technology i agree- pity their execution of said trechnology is so bad.

HD8 out in October they say, Pio in autumn too. Mark I am assuming you want a display not a plug and play TV gien what you prefer in your initial posts???

hmmm..wait and see - but the big thing i would suggest is if you went down panel plus scaler route no new technology will beat that for years to come.

No panel wil be able to compete with processing in a standalone scaler - no matter how good the new panels (and certainly not on a all in one TV!!!) so that would be the most effective future proofing.

Get a decent panel and scaler and you dont need to wait for next year's thing - whatever that is.

    FACT.

I'm thinking about picking up a cheap PHD7 50". Anybody care to speculate on how it will stand up to the new arrivals?
