Hey. I was thinking about buying a big-screen, hi-def TV (probably rear-
projection), and I wanted some advice. I'd prefer to get a big-ass 4:3
model, since it better suits my purposes (video games, anime, old movies, etc.), and the widescreen area should still be more than adequate. I know they don't make many these days, so there must be some good deals on new old-stock models, right? Could you tell me what the best model is, and where I could get it?

My priorities are, in order: Value, Size, and Quality. Also, I'd like
something with a lot of flexibility (zoom options, etc.), a good line
doubler, and a decent variety of inputs.

    Thanks in advance. Later.

(Is this the right place for this post? And is this forum only people from the UK? I'm from the US, if it makes a difference.)

Why, is stuff more expensive there?

Ehhh, you can get a really nice one for around $1500, I think.

4:3 has pretty much died off here, as well. That's why I thought I could get a good deal. A closeout, or something.

I don't think you can get a nice 4x3 RPTV here now so yes, we are ripped off. We get crap 4x3 for the same price you get good ones for. $1,500 is about £800 at the current exchange rate. What model does that buy you by the way?

Oh, and over here HD inputs are only found on plasma, LCD, DLP or light projectors. No CRT based product has such a feature as DVI or HDMI in the UK at least, I'm sure the same applies to mainland Europe.

Oh, I don't know the models. I'm fairly clueless about that stuff.

As for DVI, etc., I don't know if I even need it. And doesn't it have copy-protection limitations?
