I'm looking for a larger 4:3 wall-mountable LCD monitor for my bedroom.

4:3 is absolutely key for the use I will be getting out of it.

I'd like a display which offers high resolution and clarity, true color renderings and the best available contrast. Everything that makes a quality display good. :)

I'm not sure if there is such thing as an LCD screen with built-in progressive scan converters, but if so, I'd like to find one which offers this function as well.

What are some good screens that I might look at?

I'm guessing anywhere in the 36" size range would be ideal for my needs. I'd prefer to not have anything significantly smaller than that.

Can anyone please make suggestions or point me in the direction of some quality LCD's?

Why can't I find any 4:3 displays larger than 20"?!

Because the industry has decided that 4:3 is old-fashioned and everybody has to buy a 16:9 screen instead.
(this is not backed by actual transmission formats except in a few countries, so most of the time you will use only part of the screen)

So there is literally NONE available??

    Anywhere??

I'm not talking 50" here... just like a 34-37" monitor.

    I don't understand why!

I don't think you'll find a 34-37" monitor either. All those big boxes are 16:9.
(you must have a large bedroom...)

It's not that large, but it would be an appropriate size based on the layout of the room. What about a 32" display?

    Anything at all!!!
