Yeah i know this question gets asked each month - but the answer is different each month - plasma/led don't care

My son is looking at Samsung LE37R87BDX £700 @ empire

Is this a good buy or will he get a much better for panel for another couple hundred?

+ any links to reviews would be good

The M86/7 is far better than the R87.

Or you could be into a Panasonic PX70 plasma, which is great as well.

I checked out the Panasonic TH37PX70B (Empire) which looks fine - what i can't figure is that it claims 1080p compatable but it only has 768 pixels? - am i missing something here?

It makes the Samsung LE40M87BDX look even better value albeit this is 40" which might be tad big (for my sons flat) but i can't find 37" one anywhere - any links maybe?

It's actually 720 vertical resolution (not 768). It has a 1080p processing engine so will accept a 1080p feed but will downscale to 720.

But still look alot better than the 1080 lcd. This has been discussed to death. Well worth reading through the threads discussing each display as they both come up in each.
