want to connect pj to dvd player 10m.
whats the best cable for under £100?
Without any doubt - the van Damme cable from Marcus Cables. The site is in Swedish, but you can mail him at firstname.lastname@example.org for questions or orders. The cable has been rated as reference, compared to AudioQuest YIQ-2 with Silver BNC -> Bulletplugs.
Extremely well-built cable, my 8 meter version weighs over 3,5 kg. Performance/price is unbeatable. Just a tip!
Whilst the VanDamme cable is a firm favourite and fitting it with Canare RCA connectors is better (technically) than pre fitting with VanDamme's own Standard or Heavy Duty RCA connectors at 1950K (£150) plus tax, Import duties and Shipping its way outside the £100 budget indicated.
A fair few of us dealers in the UK already supply lots of VanDamme (a UK company) though the Multicore (even with the Standard RCA plugs) usually works out at just over the £100.00 for a 10m cable.
It is possible to supply 3 x 10m VanDamme 75ohm Standard RCA to RCA cables for sub £100.00 though - so if you don't require a Multicore that's probably the best sub £100.00 option..
Out of interest do you 'see' much difference in picture quality between VanDamme 75ohm Standard RCA to RCA, and the multicore equivalent over a 10m run?
Not much over 10m - if you go longer you have to choose which Multicore you use with care.
VanDamme do 'Standard' or 'Mini' Five and Four Core Multicore cables - the Standard has the same tech specs as the individual 75 Ohm cables and the Mini has more resistance so is likely to introduce more signal drop if you start heading towards 15m.
You can order cables with RCA or BNC plugs using both the Five and Four core Standard Multicore - though with HD15 connectors your limited to the Five or Four core Mini Multicore as the entry into an HD15 hood wont take the Standard Multicore.
Trust that helps.
