I have noticed an annoying lit circle on the bottom left side of the screen being projected by my Benq 5120. It is like a faint torch beam and can be seen during dark scenes and also visible when displaying certain single coloured backgrounds. I have noticed this effect on two entirely different projection screens and in two different rooms.

Has any other 5120 owner ever seen this....could it be a fault??

My Toshiba ET1 does not display this circle.

Could it be a reflection of the lens??

Any ideas welcome as it is annoying and I'm starting to regret not sending this PJ back to Ebuyer

Sounds like a dust blob to me.

I've got three on my Sanyo Z3, but have never got round to opening it up to clean it up.

The procedure for cleaning differs from projector to projector, but safe to say you'll need a phillips screwdriver and a can of suitable compressed air

The Z3 is famed for not having to open it up, isn't it? ...PJ :)

I agree - it's a dust blob. All pj's get them eventually. I have one on my Benq 6200 that I will have to clear one day.

I'm a bit concerned that a brand new PJ would have a dust blob. Can I get Benq to change it? I shouldn't have to be out with the screwdriver after an hour's use

Try phoning them, they seem to have pretty good after sales service.

I also have a dust blob on my 5120 but will leave it for now until more blobs appear then its a can of compressed air time.

I got my first set of dust blobs on my BenQ PB6100 cleaned under warranty. They even gave me a loaner projector while they did it.

Mind you. I'd get used to take it apart and do the dust blob clear out yourself.
You'll be doing it every other month from now on.

I would ring Benq they swapped mine very rapid when I called them but mine was not for dust mine had the common clicking noise popular with benq PJs

Good luck with your course of action
