    Hi,

I have two Yamaha AV components - the RX-V2600 AV Receiver and the DVD-S1700 DVD Player, which I'm happily controlling with my Harmony 895 remote.

These both support cabled IR In and Out.

I also have Xantech IR distribution kit to control my out of sight components e.g. Satelitte Cable Box, MCE PC etc...

    My questions were :
    1) What are the benefits of having an IR link between the Yamaha components ? Are their additional menus enabled as a result ?
    2) Is the IR Receiver on a Yamaha component disabled if it IR IN cabled connection is in use ?
    3) Is the Yamaha IR format compatible with Xantech IR ? I'm aware of the Xantech 794 convertor, but just wondering if it's needed for these devices (in case there are polarity or voltage differences)

Any advice would be much appreciated.
