benchmark dac1

Interesting feedback. Were you using the AV9 when you compared the DAC1 to the Caiman?

Yes, using the AV9 in stereo direct mode.

Even if cables can magic up jitter themselves the question is - when does it become audible? Since various papers/listening procedures say different things it is not possible to say.

We are, therefore, left not knowing and have to make our own decision when listening. Preferably this is done without previous suggestions of jitter being a problem in the equipment you are listening to or done double blind to help remove bias imo

The other option is to pick and choose which paper, sales pitch is correct - which is pointless imo.

IWC Dopplel - you do realise they are trying to sell their product - a "dejittering" device? A bit biased don't you think?

There is a simple way.
Play a CD in a player connected by HDMI.
Put in a long HDMI cable and play it again.
See if you can hear any difference.

i can tell the difference between cd replay using optical to receiver & hdmi to receiver.

the hdmi connection introduces a very slight grain/harshness to the music.

i hope we can stay on topic and not get bogged down by another jitter debate.

thanks
