Incase anyone's interested, I just got an email from some random company (Netshop?) advertising these for what looks like a bargain price (£10). Link is HERE.

I don't know who they are, or if its really a good deal or not, and I have nothing to do with these people so don't shoot the messenger if its not all its cracked up to be. Just thought it might help someone out if they were looking for one...

i just bought one of these for £25 at the weekend

i hope this offer is genuine and company is ok, says company was establised in 1983, as i need another one for tv and av equipment.

i'm about to order so fingers crossed.

edit - work's out at £18.68 with VAT and Delivery Charge of £5.95 - still a small saving over R.R.P, just ordered should be with me in 2/3 days

£18.73 is just what I have paid to Amazon for the sleek black n silver “Pure AV” variant (bought purely for on display looks beside my hifi). I am more than impressed with it. I have 4 of the 4-Way Belkin Surgemasters around the house. These blocks sound identical to the Russ Andrews Yellow Power Extention block they replaced.

Belkin 500VA Superior Series Emergency Battery Backup (F6H500UKUNV) (UP-010-BE) for £15:

Basically the same thing, but with a battery built in. If the mains cuts out, you can run a PC and other stuff for a few minutes (they claim 7-12 mins). Nice idea given that plasmas and DLPs like to shut down slowly over a minute or so. I've got one, you can see it works fine by turning off the power at the socket - the battery clicks in instantly. No idea how long it lasts, but I had a 45" screen and a PC running for a minute before I turned it back.

Humph - send me the link will you. I got my one from Netshop today and am very happy with it so want to order another. If you can get them for £12 from Amazon then that's obviously the place to go. I've had a quick look but I can't seem to find them at that price...

The Kikatek site charges carriage tho' and once vat is added it's barely any cheaper than Amazon.[/QUOTE]

My apologies. Now I check the invoice I find it's £17.50 including carriage. I thought it was carriage free. Too much to expect!

i remember picking up two of the Gold version ones in PC World for £20 a piece..heh..i think they had the wrong barcode setting for them......now have 5 of them in the house, but had to fork out £25 each for the next two from PC World and the 5th from Dixons at £35!!

still, the Gold ones have stupidly high surge specs and i think it was unlimited replacement costs.....oh also they have cat5 network cable passthru as well as phone splitter and coaxial splitter :)
    (and two swivelly plugs...heh)
