    Hey,

Is there anywhere that indicates what series of beeps mean? I was playing the Burnout Paradise demo last night and it froze. Had to hold on/off button for 2 secs and turn off. As it was turing off it beeped 3 times. When i reset it was all fine. So what do the 3 peeps mean?

    Thanks in advance,

    Gaz.

The beebs occur if you hold the power button down and reset the PS3. This reset will reset the video output and sound output back to the default output.

It's useful if you move your ps between tv's / audio kit. I use it when I move my ps3 to the spare room on my dell24" via Comp instead of hdmi on my pio in the front room.

    hope this helps.

I beleive that 3 beeps on shutdown indicate a 'forced' shutdown. Meaning that the machine is busy (or hung) and unable to shutdown normally, and you holding down the power is forcing it to shutdown.

You shouldn't get three beeps during normal shutdowwn. I only get one beep when ever I shut my PS3 down under normal circumstances.

It only started to do it recently, its not all the time though just about 1 in 3 shutdowns.

As long as its working I'm happy :)

I don't want to alarm you but it does sound as if your PS3 is doing a forced shut down from time to time. In other words it's trying to shut down when something is still running on the PS3. This is just an educated guess on my part. If this is the case it may be a sign of problems in the future. It might be worth getting it repaired or replaced now.

I agree with Moogle it should only be the one beep, if it's doing more during a normal shut down then something is wrong, although i guess it depends on what you were doing when you turned of the PS3.

were you streaming stuff from your PC at the time it maybe that the PC is still sending stuff to the PS3 hence why the PS3 beeps as it would still be doing something even though it looks like it isn't stop the streaming on the PC first then switch off the PS3.

if your not streaming then as Moogle and i said there is something wrong and you should think about getting it looked at or replaced.

I will keep a close eye on it, I've got until April before the 12 months is up.

    Thanks

    Rich.
