Anyone got any experience of Becker Head Units ?

    Particulary the Grand Prix range.

Good , bad, or indifferent ?

    I have a Becker Traffic Pro 7949 .. http://www.caraudiodiscount.com/acatalog/becker_traffic_pro.html

It's a great unit and with a 4Gb CF microdrive card slot I can store a load of mp3s on it too without the need for addons. Build and sound quality are also excellent .. very subtle to look at too so doesn't attract the thieves!

Wicked sound quality.. understated (some would say ugly) looks.. but build to last.

    I want one again :(

I have the Mexico Pro with CD.

I would echo the previous posters comments on quality and subtlety but, I am having issues after two years with the CD where it is not recognising many of the discs I put into it ie I get an errror message. I assume it needs a service of some sort.

You could try a lens cleaner ... might be all it needs.

That's what I thought so I bought one. Problm is that it does not play in the Becker, simply registers as an error.

I suspect this is going to be common on in car cd players.

Bummer ... if it's not too old then might be worth dropping them an email, I've heard stories of them doing courtesy repairs on units long out of warranty before...

    Good luck :)

I think a Becker unit is going to be the best option for my 330 BMW.

Any of the usual suspects would just look totally out of place.

Cheers for all your comments. Keep 'em coming
