    Hi

Don't suppose if anyone knows when (or if) the Beastie Boys Anthology DVD is going to get a region 2 release?

    Cheers

The Beastie Boys Criterion is Region 0 so it should play on any player as long as your TV can handle NTSC.

If you're a fan of the Beasties then you NEED to get this DVD - it's one of the best ever released. Check my review at the address below [IMG]

    Cheers for the reply, Tee.

I'm still confused (don't take alot!) about the regions of this disc though.

Are there 2 versions? beastieboys.com & all the other sites I've tried state that the disc is r1.

The Criterion site doesn't state a region.

If so, can you please tell me where you got your r0 copy from?

    Cheers in advance.

    P9.

    (Great review, by the way).

Well as far as I know the disc IS R0, I've tried it on the Region 2 setting of both of my players and it plays fine. I'm 99% sure it'll play on your unconverted (?) player.

I think the confusion comes from the fact that it is an American disc and it's only available in the US, basically it isn't a PAL disc it's NTSC. The majority of Criterion discs are region free.

There is only one version out there and I've done a bit of checking to see where it can be bought from. Both these site have it down as R1, BUT I still believe it is region 0 [IMG]

Check out these 2 and if need be send them an email to check.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers again Tee

I mailed criterion about the discs region on saturday & as of now I haven't yet got a reply.

I'm bursting to get this disc so I've decided to take a risk & ordered the disc from play247 last night.

Fingers crossed, it should work fine. If it don't then at least I'll have a couple of Beastie drinks coasters!

    Cheers for your help again.

    tee,

Good website. I've been thinking about buying the disc for a while but couldn't decide. I read your review then dived at play247 to buy. Can't wait to receive it.

I'll be going back to read a few more reviews if the disc is as good as you say.

JUS, glad you like the site mate, cheers for your comments.

All I can say is, if you like the Beastie Boys then you will LOVE the Criterion release - gauranteed. Also I hope you have a sub, cause when you listen to those tunes in 5.1.... UNREAL. [IMG]

    Enjoy.

Got the disc on friday. You were right, it does work & boy does it rock!

My copy came with a sort of 'extra' inlay sheet glued 'flap like' to the back of the box stating all the extra features, it also said that the disc would work in all regions.

You were also right about the 5.1 sound, great fun has been had getting the pictures on the walls to dance along with the (muchos) bass.

Are all Criterion discs this good & region free?

Cheers again Tee, you've made my DVD player a very happy boy.

P9, glad to hear the disc works mate, I knew it would [IMG] I also knew you'd like it becasue it is unreal as you now know full well.

Not ALL Criterion discs are R0 but the majority are (I think) and yeah they are all supposed to be class, well at least most are.

Make sure you check out these: (All are R0)

Robocop - Superb disc but then it is one of my favourite films, only Dolby 2.0 but completly uncut.

Silence Of The Lambs - again only DPL but a great transfer of a great film.

Chasing Amy - One of the very best commentaries - very funny.

The Long Good Friday - Superb British gangster film, only mono sound and minimal extras (just the trailer) but it looks great and is the best version available.

    Enjoy.
