Well it was always going to happen some time this month, especialy as HD DVD releases seemed to have slow and BDs seem to have escalated but DVD Wars are now showing both more BD to order and available to deliver than HD DVD. Thoughts folks?

Number of DVDs that can ship today:
BD 189
HD DVD 182

Number of DVDs that can be purchased today:
BD 235
HD DVD 211

# in the top 10000:
Blu-Ray: 51
HD-DVD: 95

# in top 1000:
Blu-Ray: 0
HD-DVD: 3

Whilst having a few extra discs on the shelf is a good sign, I'd say sales are still the most important factor..

yea hd-dvd still outselling blurry

I think the trend history is the most important graph there, but I guess the greater studio support is starting to show, although my bias is currently towards the titles that are available on HD-DVD. Shrugs.

Guys, these figures are nothing to do with sales. They are simply to do with the number of discs available from Amazon. [If I only had 3 discs in the top 1000 I wouldn't be boasting about 'sales' either ;)]

I agree Nick, its the bluray camp trying to push there product. Everyone knows HDDVD is way out in front in the HD race. We wont know until the release of the PS3 wether Bluray will sell as many titles as HDDVD. INHO And I dont think HD will take off until both camps have the price of there players down to the sub £300 mark and that will be autunm 2007. Be patient guys, all good things come to those who wait.

Good to see more BluRay releases starting to appear now - but my collection is still 8:1 in favour of HD DVD so for me it's a no brainer which is 'best' at present.

The figues on the DVD Wars have been some what erratic today to say the least. See my other thread.

If Warner do what they say and treat both formats as equeal then HD-DVD will loose more market share as sales of titles such as Batman Begins will no longer be an advantage to HD-DVD.

If Blu-Ray and HD-DVD are wounded patients right now, Blu-Ray has several doctors tending to it while HD-DVD has one. While Blu-Ray will recover over 2007 we'll see HD-DVD die a slow painfull death.

:) If too many cooks spoil the broth, imagine what lots of Doctors can do! :rotfl:

Quality over quantity my friend! I for one ain't getting getting Rayed by these figures.

BETAMAX, UMD video cough cough. PSP !!!!

Soooooo many backers yet they hit the ground as hard as a tonn of bricks.

For the last few months its been, once BD releases X player watch it burn past hd-dvd or or once ps3 is out watch hd-dvd die instantly or or ........ once BD comes out accross the world watch it burn past HD-DVD.

HD-DVD is still kicking up the dust infront of BD face :)

But, we didn't get BD50's or the PS3 until November, what we in now? Oh yeah December! Give the BDA a chance. CES is only a few weeks away, so I guess we'll see what both formats are made of then.

When was the E1 meant to of arrived again?

Those straws keep following you.

CES is not gonna give us anything different to what we already know so no difference there.

PS3 lol 300k + already out ... not much happening there.

As for E1 who knows , there was no HD-DVD out in the UK yet the Movies were outselling BD discs 5:1 must be the anticipation. :)

Dust Straws ... there is one hell of a cough

If anyone's clutching at straws its you, can you give me a release date for HD_DVD in the UK? Of course you can't nobody can, not even Toshiba.

As for CES 2007 its time to put those blinkers on, oh I see you already have. What do you think the CES is all about, showing off last years players, with last years titles? CES 2007 is all about what we can expect in 2007 and I can imagine how hard it will be for all those none BD supporters when those announcements are made.

I thought the E1 now had a street date of 22/12?

You aren't going to post the words to an ABBA song next are you ? :)

Where is Livdik, these days?

Judging by the threads on this forum though I get the feeling that Toshiba's players are going to fly off the shelves when they're launched. Something that hasn't been said about Samsung's and Panasonics offerings....

Thats correct the new tosh players will fly off the shelf Most on here are awaiting the E1 or xe1 , the usa allready have the e1 once the xe1 is released is when we will see more and more sales of HD dvd's..!!

The only time you will see the samsung fly off the shelf is when the store managers push them off the shelf on to the floor for insurance purposes :D or give them to the third rate shop known as R.S to try and palm off as end of line stock.. end of line WTF :rotfl: they never even started..!!:rotfl:

OK, back to Nic's original intent...

The stakes appear to be rising, Disney are clearly advertising Aladdin, The Lion King, Finding Nemo and Pirates of The Carribean for 2007.

Sony appear to be lining up Casino Royale for March.

Yes that is the correct date , plus the XE1 is defo first week of jan so there should be some very happy customers shortley who have waited out for uk standalones so we should see a signifacant rise in HD sales, once Hmv sort these stupid prices out more and more 360 HD owners will be purchasing uk titles rather than having to import along with the new tosh punters.

Rasczak did you check out the toshiba booth they had of the HD E1 at the west quay shopping centre or have you still not be back to southhampton yet, apparentley lots of towns are at this very time displaying all the new tosh players in city centre shoping malls etc along with 360 HD stands , looks like now we have a couple of decent gen 2 / uk gen 1 players out things should start moving ahead for HD nicely from what i wqas told tosh have a few price tricks up there sleeve for feb, should increase the format some what.! :smashin:
