    See here.

Having read a review by Kevin Smith I'm not a bit suprised, "a thousand times darker than Empire" according to him. I'm trying desperately not to geek out about this after the other prequels, but I'll confess to looking forward to this film a little. :D

Yep got to confess I'm looking forward to this as well, from all accounts its what the fans have been waiting for from the prequels. Got my tickets all booked up and ready to roll :)

That's good to know. What were the prequels (Ep I & II) rated at on their release?

I believe I & II were PG. Lucas allowed the head butt scene to be removed in II to ensure it's PG classification.

I think TPM was a U actually, but you are right about AOTC, it was the first Star Wars film to not be a U.

Quite right, The Pants In Venice was in fact a U.

There is a very ****** off Six year old in my house at the minute . I know everyone wanted a darker film , me included .But where is the logic in having a series of 6 movies when the last one , unlike its predecessors , can't be see by all . I wonder if there will be a kid friendly cut , he won't be happy waiting for DVD

Its kinda strange that this film gets a 12a but if they had included a headbutt scene it would still get a 12a but would be censored to remove the offending headbutt ( weird censorship policies but at least most films now get past the censors uncut unlike the dark days under Ferman )

Looking forward to this film even more now that its gonna be darker and probably more violent, been longing for a darker Star Wars pic since ohhhhh 1983 after seeing all those cute teddy bears ruining Return of the Jedi :)

Lets hope when the inevitable 6 disc boxset comes out next year that Lucas reclassifies Clones and gets it released uncut and its good to hear that The Phantom Menace will get a new transfer as the current one is riddled with excessive edge enhancement.

No-one younger than 12 may see a ‘12A’ film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult.

If you take him, and you are ok with him seeing this type of material, then it wont be a problem.
A 12A certificate will allow him to see it if he is taken by an adult. :smashin:

    See below...................
    from the BBFC web site.

No-one younger than 12 may see a ‘12A’ film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult.

No-one younger than 12 may rent or buy a ‘12’ rated video or DVD. Responsibility for allowing under-12s to view lies with the accompanying or supervising adult.

    Theme
Mature themes are acceptable, but their treatment must be suitable for young teenagers.

    Language
The use of strong language (eg ‘****’) must be infrequent. Racist abuse is also of particular concern.

    Nudity
Nudity is allowed, but in a sexual context must be brief and discreet.

    Sex
Sexual activity may be implied. Sex references may reflect what is likely to be familiar to most adolescents but should not go beyond what is suitable for them.

    Violence
Violence must not dwell on detail. There should be no emphasis on injuries or blood. Sexual violence may only be implied or briefly and discreetly indicated.

    Imitable techniques
Dangerous techniques (eg combat techniques, hanging, suicide and self-harming) should not dwell on imitable detail or appear pain or harm free. Easily accessible weapons should not be glamorised.

    Horror
Sustained moderate threat and menace are permitted. Occasional gory moments only.

    Drugs
Any misuse of drugs must be infrequent and should not be glamorised or instructional
