    BBC2 Friday 04 November 7.00 - 7.30pm

Documentary which follows a team from the world's biggest hi-tech company as they launch a new version of their Xbox games console to take on the Sony Playstation. It is a huge gamble, but the potential rewards are enormous. The new consoles can play music, store photos, and let you contact other people online, so whoever wins the battle could become the gatekeeper to the world of home entertainment. But can Microsoft get their new consoles into the shops in time for Christmas?

Hopefully a little more enlightening than the MTV Show.
Apologies if this has already been posted.

Great spot Spike! Plus don't forget videoGaiden (from the makers of Consolevania) starts on BBC2 Scotland on 4th November too! Sounds a good night of videogames viewing!

Quick bump to say the two shows are now in your Sky planner if you have one. VideoGaiden is on Friday night (sat morn strictly speaking) on BBC2 Scotland at 12.05am - shame it's only 10 mins long though.

Nice spots Spike & Loz! The MS documentary sounds good! It will be interesting to see what's been going on behind the scenes while we've all been wildly speculating about whether RM will deliver a big square box on the 2nd or not ;) .

I absolutely love Consolevania as well and i'm well chuffed they have got their own show! I guess you have to start on TV somewhere and a localised 10 minute show is a great start. Hopefully it will be the rip roaring success that it deserves to be (if it's anything like CV anyway) and go on to become a nationwide 1 hour show! Christ, if Gamesville can make it then surely they can!

Nice spot - it does amaze me tho that consdiering the global following gaming has we get such rubbish spots on the box - Gamer TV next Gen, okay its not bad but seems to only be updated once a week now - and Im forever removing episodes of When Games attack as Ive already seen them - come on broadcasters - we need a couple more weekly gaming shows - preferably with scantly clad ladies and a monkey or 2 !

I agree, and hopefully it will change during the next generation. Broadcasters need to realise that a huge proportion of gamers are now adult (18-40 age group) gamers and it would be nice to see more adult orientated programmes. Stuff like Gamezville is just kids orientated and is pretty embarrasing to watch at times. I guess the best shows have been Gamesmaster (with Dom Diamond) and that old Sky one show with Peter Kay as Big Boy Barry was also fairly amusing (athough still aimed at kids).

I knew that there would probably be a shortage of XBOX 360'S on launch day. But didn't know that the whole launch could still be in doubt

Anyone want to elaborate on this?

I think CAS is just speculating on this. I, for one, would be extremely surprised if they missed the Dec 2nd target (although they could probably get away with a 1 week delay if needed). I mean the launch is so close to xmas as it is, MS just need to hit the xmas launch, even if it is a ‘token' launch with just 50k units nationwide!

No, no, no you mis-read my post young Tejstar! ;) I was just saying that we have all been speculating in some detail (as the huge thread on this forum is testiment to) whether we will get our 360 on 2nd December or not. I wasn't meaning that the whole launch would be delayed just that no-one really knows how many the shops are getting etc. and people have therefore been speculating (based mainly on rumours) whether theirs will be delivered of not.

Worth a bump to remind everyone that these two programmes are on tonight. The 360 programme is by the Money Programme, so expect it to focus on the financial aspects of the launch, as opposed to the frame rate in PGR3, but could be interesting nevertheless.

It should be applauded for offering an insight into mothers and their toddlers, and how the 360 will affect their lives.

Drives you mad when they interview mid-30s mums and 10 years old kids - that's just not the market MS are after and will always make things look worse than they are. Still, though it was quite interesting...

Exactly. Stupid little kids, what do they know about anything? Let them have their ps2s and psps, leave the grown up console to the grown ups! Afterall, games are £40+, some are 18 rated...

Oh and could Phill Harrison (Sony guy) be any more arrogant?!

Tried hard didn't he? It's funny how they didn't really push the fact that MS are respecting the European market with the worldwide launch - just tried to make them seem desperate to grab sales before PS3. The fact Sony didn't release the PSP in the UK was because we are an irrelevance to them, but in MS's world, Europe is #2.

It was a bit boring really. Had about 3 seconds of game footage though, and some gimp from Sony. Yay.

why question mothers with small kids, ridiculous. they are not the ones going to buy this at all, they cant justify that kind of cash unless its a new cot or something baby like, they wont spend on entertainment.

why didn't they ask mr 25 year old with no ties who the thing is actually aimed at

Barely a mention of actual games and nothing about Live the very aspect of the XBox 360 where the brand is at it's strongest.

And why, always, are gamers represented by pre-teen muppets and Sony fanboys?

Only thing about the programme I smiled at was the fact the whole launch thing is obviously totally rushed. Three months agoI had huge arguments on the now crashed Totalgames.net forums about this and was roundly slagged off for my 'ignorance'. Now we see Microsoft bigwigs telling us many games aren't ready and shipping the inadequate numbers of consoles is in jeopardy.

    Why question mothers??

Why the hell would they question "hardcore gamers" who we all know will be buying the console anyway?

The whole point of questioning people who ***would not usually buy a console*** was to question microsofts initial motives, which is to create an *entertainment centre*.

The programme wasnt meant to be about the actual games, it was all about the investment side of things, market share, demographics etc.

I thought the Sony fanboys was probably the most pertinent part of the show actually. It's those MS have to win over first off to spread word of mouth, and it's pretty positive really. A shame so many people relate the looks of the console to it's attractiveness (Ooooh its got pretty green and blue lights) as opposed to mentioning the functionality and games, buy hey that's the world we live in I guess...

It was quite good actually, especially compared to how crappy the usual coverage on videogames are. It looks like they're are going to be some very severe shortages tho, and you could sense an overall nervousness, especially at the Dublin distribution centre. The arrogane of the Sony guy couldn't be dreamt up.
