Last night and tonight my sky box (Panasonic) cannot get any signal for BBC 1, 2 and ITV1.

All other channels seem to be all right.

It did come back at 10pm last night but has gone again tonight.

Anyone else seen this of have any ideas.

I've heard on another forum that the hot weather can cause the LNB on the dish to become slightly misaligned as it buckles under the extreme temperatures. They're probably not designed for the hot weather we've been experiencing recently.

Why doesn't this affect most other channels, only BBC and ITV? These are on a different satellite, Astra 2B?? IIRC, which has a tighter beam than most of the other channels use. Therefore when problems like this arise, you will notice it on channels hosted on that satellite before the others.

Thanks folks, with Further investigation it turned out I couldnt get BBC3,4 or News 24. But could get Parliment (how exciting!). ITV2 was OK.

It came back intermitently about 10:40 and all channels were back at 10:50.

Called Sky technical support line, system told me my call would be answered in ... less than 45 minutes.

    Customer service my ar*e.

If it happens again I will have a chat with my local installer.

You might like to read this page about Panasonic faults. Does momentarily disconnecting the LNB cable fix it?

Fman, thanks for that info. Excellent. I havent tried disconnecting the LNB feed. But I will try it today. Last night I did manage to get channels back by flicking about for a bit.

    However for a conspiracy theory.

Sky have called twice over the last 10 das to try and sell me an extended warranty on my Digibox. Which I wont buy because I never buy extended warranties.

Funny how the box started playing up a few days after I said no thanks.

Fman bought the Panafix2D yesterday afternoon. Arrived in the post this morning. Opened up the Panasonic STB. Found the connection points. Soldered the gadget in, (hands are wobblier than they used to be).

An its working fine now. Need to run it tonight to see if it works through the evening.

    Anyway thanks for the info.

    Cheers Rog
