I'm sure I've missed this somewhere, but I recorded a widescreen programme from BBC1 via Sky and noticed that my TV autoswitched to 16/9 viewing modewhen played back from VHS. It wasn't recorded in letterbox mode, it was proper 16/9 anamorphic/ Now I've never noticed this before, not that I record very often! I know that this feature exists, but I've not known that a Skybox will output the necessary WSS info to the VCR scart socket so that recordings can 'instruct' the tv which apsect ratio is needed. Has it been like this for ages? or just recently? I connect my Panasonic NVHD710 video to the VCR scart socket of the Pace 2600 digibox, then Sky TV scart goes to the TV ... all very normal.
