I have actually been working on some of this over the last few months.

We are now able to deliver TV quality broadcast over the internet of ALL BBC channels to any ISP that want's to offer it to their customers.

This will be a live feed plus the archives and is now fully working and tested.

The question now will be how many ISPs decide to actualy take up the service.

    Networkguy,

On a smaller scale I have implemented DigiTV server in my house that multicasts chosen channel around half a dosen PCs. The picture quality is the same as provided by original trasport stream.

DigiTV software generally work but the clients accasionally have problem detecting the server. I managed to set-up DIitTV as an NT service that starts automatically.

Next project is to find satellite application that would route transport stream around my LAN.

One of the interesting issues that would come into prominence if watching of TV broadcasts via Internet takes of is the issue of TV license, as every PC connected to the Internet becomes an equipment capable of receiving live TV programs (this would in less than a year include most of the 3G mobile phones as well).

I know that possession of capable equipment if not sufficient to automatically trigger the license fee (it is the use of such equipment to receive any live TV broadcast that requires the license), but it is going to be very interesting if large number of population
start to use PC as the primary means for TV watching (not only for convenience but also because picture and sound are of better quality).
