Not sure if this is the right forum for this question. :(

But anyway - does anyone know if the BBC's splendid radio adaptation of The Lord Of The Rings is available on CD any cheaper than the £48 or so that Amazon want for it?

Its in WHS for 24.99 for each disc (x3) so £48 sounds excellent value

You can often get good prices from Ebay:

    LOTR for sale

Also there are alternative versions available, of interest. I recently did a thread in regard to this:

£48 is a bargain for that too, imho. And agreed Nicholas, it's superb:)

Think it runs for around 13 hours?

Indeed, 13 1-hour episodes, 1 per CD each episode was one chapter of the books more or less .. IIRC some chapters were omitted entirely, not sure now though.

I remember being rivetted every Sunday afternoon IIRC back in the early 80s when it was broadcast, with a wonderful soundtrack to go with it.

Yeh that is a good price. So much so I may get it as well.

I've got the unabridged book on CD which is fantastic if not a little long. 46 CD's :zonked:

It was originally broadcast as 26 half-hour episodes, then re-edited to 13 hour-long episodes. I believe the CD set has it as one continuous entity which occupies 12 discs, with a 13th one containing "extras".

The BBC boxset has 14 CD's. The last disc contains music by Stephen Oliver from the series.
