"Instead 24 could be sold to a terrestrial rival such as ITV, or even a pay TV channel such as Sky One or E4. Alternatively the BBC could continue to broadcast the series but not via digital satellite, forcing millions of viewers to switch back to conventional analogue TV to watch the show."

I couldn’t understand why when it was a Fox production that Sky never got it in the first place.

If it does go to ITV, then at least the episodes will be one hour long ;)

Besides, nowt wrong with analogue telly. Not all of us have Freeview, cable or Sky :)

Yeah, a bit strange that. But then again Sky One only like airing their s**t fox shows or other s**t shows (dinotopia, dark angel, dream team etc etc) ;)

    I'm well happy with that.
I've had to stop watching both of the first two series mid way through because they stopped them for the snooker / sailing / some crappy art house programme and didn't bother advertising the change. Put it on a real channel!

If it goes to another channel, that has adverts I probably wont watch it on TV and just wait for the DVD. I hate adverts in the middle of programs and with a program like 24 it would drive me nuts.

And not all of us have useable terrestrial analogue reception. If it turns out to be viewable only on terrestrial I will certainly be hitting the ceiling....

Mate, i' not trying to plug a service here. But i have telewest digital. Guess how much it costs me a month. £3.50. Now if you tell me you can't afford that, you must be the tramp that lives outside the co-op near me :D

£3.50 a month for 27 channels of unadulterated pap!

    Bargain! :smoke:

Rumour has it that the episodes for series 3 are going to be one real, actual hour long each.

what makes you think that? That'd mean they are 90 minutes or so long. Could you see Americans sitting through something on TV for that long? They can't even sit still for 10 minutes at a baseball game! :)

It's not really the cost of the services that stops me from having it. I have NTL broadband at home, so it wouldn't be much to add their basic cable TV package.

It's just that I don't watch a huge amount of TV (normally just the same few programmes every week). It's just that even £3.50 a month for 27 channels that I don't watch seems a waste.

    Hi,

I hate to say this folks, but have none of you seen how ITV treats its few remaining imported shows?!

Take a look at the following list, and see if you can tell me if these were even shown in your region, at a decent time.

    - The Practice
    - Now And Again
    - Crossing Jordan
    - The District
    - Dragnet

Most of these were optional, meaning it was up to each local region to decide if they were going to show these series'. Most of them did air them, but not one of them ran it consistently:- that is, not one single region could show any of these series and run it, week-in, week-out in the same timeslot for the entire run of the show. And, with the exception of Dragnet, all were run in a post-Midnight slot!

If any other station, than the BBC gets "24: Season 3", it's going to be ruined, by a heap of ads every two minutes; crushed credits; censorship; DOG's and crap scheduling! Hell, if ITV gets it, you may not even all be able to se it, if it's regionalised, or if they decide to drop it after the first few episodes, due to a lack of viewers. Even Channel Four would ruin it, by censoring it, and then transmitting the resultant mess, in a 4:3 ratio, with the T4 logo all over it, scrolly text advertising the latest boy band competition, and in a daytime, 6pm timeslot! :nono:

And some of you think this is a good idea?!

"24" has to be seen on the BBC, and should be made available to them, for transmitting on both analogue and digital services!

Not sure I believe that they would broadcast on analogue only and not digital. What would be the point in them doing that ? Do they currently do or have done this with any other series? I don't think so.

The best thing about watching 24 for me was the way the tension builds up and keeps you glued to the screen for 45 minutes - if they kept going into ad breaks it totally spoil the effect.

I'm afraid to say that I'd be sorely tempted to wait for the dvd if it were to be broadcast by anyone other than the beeb.

    Hi,

It didn't take long, for someone (Neilo) to drop the immortal, "Oh, well just download it!" comment into this topic, did it?!

Why should everything have to revolve around downloading it from the Net, if we can't get it properly?!

What a moron, you piracy-advocates are! Sheesh! That's the answer to everything, with you folks, isn't it?! If you can't get it legitimately, then just download it or steal it from someone else. Hell, why pay or wait for anything, if you can get it now, and for free, eh?! Pillocks! Someone close the thread now, before it descends into "I'm not a pirate, but I'm not going to wait for..." whatever, kind of threads. Thanks!

    Afternoon,

Neilo - nope you didn't upset me or wind me up. :p

However, you did show how anal you are, because you are one of those people who obviously has absolutely no patience, and has to have everything now: has to be the first to see something, or own it, so you can brag to everyone about it!

    How sad, you are!

Oh, and as for my happy pills, I already took mine today. :p
