    As the title really.

Not sure what forum to put this in so mods feel free to move it

Anyone know how to capture video from the BBC iplayer?

Most stuff is on torrents sites but I want a short clip from blue peter!

(I have done a forum search)

BBC Iplayer videos are just WMV's that when you download, go into your public > videos folder (unless if you change the location).

So you can just download the relevant blue peter episode, then use some freeware to edit the WMV to pick out the short section you want.

    Hope this helps...

I thought the videos were streamed to the player like real video or youtube videos. I understand that they are probably cached somewhere but I didn't think they were downloaded as such-I have looked for .wmv files on my computer but can't find this file even in hidden folders.

Yup, thats it. If you have the download manager, you can download the programs to watch 'offline' using any viewer you like (WMP, etc). I think the first time you load the program in media player, it needs to hop on the net to authenticate the bbc DRM, but other than that - you're good to go...

Tried this with Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, works fine in WMP but won't stream to my Zyxel DMA 1000. The BBC idents are all there and stream, but the downloaded programme tries to play but fails - any hints???? Cheers. NS

I've removed a few posts form this thread that were heading towards copyright infringement.

By all means talk about how to use BBC iPlayer to view material within the terms that the BBC make it available but please do not venture into ways to bypass the copyright limitations imposed by the BBC on the material they offer.
