BBC iPlayer issues

Whilst playing BBC iPlayer last night it would zoom to full screen after a pause or fast-forward and you couldn't get it back to widescreen without going back and replaying from the beginning.

Also it seemed very unresponsive, particularly with trying to use the scroll-bar.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I had the same problem last night but I think the iplayer works lovely on the iPad apart from the zoom issue

Yes, using iPlayer on iPad seems a bit hit and miss.

My laptop using Flash seems to be MUCH more responsive and reliable than the iPad for iPlayer.

Then again, the iPad only has 256MB RAM compared to the 2GB in the laptop and has a somewhat slower processor.
Presumably the efficiency of the Wifi on the iPad won't be as good as a recent-ish Wireless-N adapter in a recent-ish laptop?

I get the exact same issues Stuart. As its a beta, it would be nice if there was some where on the site we could feedback these problems were finding.

A couple of things I experienced.

Firstly the BBC forces the iPad to the "Big Screen" version of iPlayer which is great on my PS3, but for the iPad I would prefer the same version as on the iPhone.

Secondly, through some weird combination of zooming and rotating the screen I ended up with one quarter of the image filling the entire screen and nothing I did could get out of it, other than quitting.

I am gutted with the football quality on both BBC and ITV. Its watchable but nowhere as good as the pre-recorded stuff. Although it's substantially better when they jump back to the studio!?!

Can anyone tell me why we can't down load the shows to playback without wifi . would be great to store some shows for watching on breaks without requiring wifi or sores having to buy them in iTunes. is it the same for Sky player as I have never used that.

My experience is exactly the opposite. I find the iPlayer on the iPad streams faster than any other computer in the house (2.4 C2D 4GB Ram & 2.26 C2D with 4GB Ram). Not once have I had to wait for the stream to buffer on the iPad, wish I could say the same for the computers!
